AT&T signal changing everytime I'm making a phone call

Does anyone else notice that when you are making phone call and if you look at your status bar that your LTE signal changed to H+ / H? Does this mean when we are making phone call we are not on LTE? Or we are in LTE but it's showing as h+? Because call quality is still not great no matter what.
