Xperia ZL and LG G4

For anyone else wondering. G4 is a nice upgrade over the ZL. Pretty much better in every way. Very little smudging on the G4 display; for those who have removed the ZL screen protector know how bad the display is with smudges. G4 display has noticeably better brightness and viewing angles. Camera is really nice, focus/detail is pretty good as a 2 year newer phone should. Quick charge and removable battery is a big plus. The ZL was my first phone with a sealed battery and always bothered me as it could fail at anytime or develop horrible life on a single charge (lucky for me the battery was never an issue). Double tap to wake and sleep is a great feature as well.

The ZL is a great phone. I will miss the dedicated camera button, the cool LED notification light (plain ole circle LED on the G4), Charge port location (though this is just preference), and the overall smaller form factor. I did change my LG G4 ringtone to the ZL Xperia ringtone... Nothing the G4 has sounded as good.

One feature I like the most on the G4 is the Smart Unlock. When I'm home (trusted location), the phone stays unlocked, but can be forced to lock also. When I leave my house it automatically switched back to my regular locking mode (locks automatically when screen sleeps). Not sure if this is an Android 5.1 feature or a LG feature, but great feature none the less. There are a couple of third party apps that does this, but I never trusted those.

Overall I'm pretty with the upgrade. If anyone is thinking about switching to the G4 its great is you can live with the bigger size. Took a not so great picture of the G4 and ZL together, attached. G4 has a Spigen Hybrid case, and the ZL has a Incipio Dual Pro Case. Getting an Incipio Dual Pro for the G4, much better design for impact like the ZL case
