New to development, please help!

G'day from Australia yall!
So, I'm completely new to development and I have the most basic of basic understanding of things (rooting my phone, partitioning my SD card, ridding it of bloatware, etc). I was wondering if anyone can help me in better understanding development, and enhancing my phone's performance. Sort of like a "development/rooting/hacking for dummies" type of deal. I don't mean to sound so ignorant, I'm just looking for help!
