Meizu MX3 upgrade

Hello earthlings!
I'm trying to upgrade my phone, using the firmware and procedure provided by Meizu (apparently i can't post the link since i'm a new user on this forum). The instructions want me to copy the update.zip file to the root folder of the phone. My phone is not rooted, so there's no way to do that, am i right? How am i supposed to upgrade my phone? I hope i'm missing something obvious here...
