Install ROM status 7 issue

I have a Nexus One that I bought from Google directly in 2010. It has the official Android 2.3.6 on it. It was unlocked, but not rooted. I rooted it using SuperOneClick. I installed Rom Manager 5.5.3.7, which installed recoveries TWRP and ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0. When trying to reboot in recovery mode, it always starts ClockworkMod, even if I select TWRP.

In recovery mode, I select "install zip from sdcard", then select my zip. It starts, but gives me a status 7 error (some symlinks create failed, or something like that). I searched for status 7 error, but it talks about device assert, which does not seem to be my issue since I get the same error even if I remove the assert from the file (and the symlink creations are after the assert).

I tried several ROMs (I would like to have Android 4.0.3 minimum):

I tried several things, but none are working. Does someone have an idea? Detailled step by step instructions would be welcome.

Thank you.
