experia sol24 no wifi, in-coming calls or text

I felt like I had a little knowledge since I had previously unlocked my note3 and it worked beautifully on straight talk service until it got wet. I figured I'd save some money and buy this locked sony z ultra, unlock it and live happily ever after. :/ The real world showed me I still have lots to learn. I finally unlocked it with the help of a friend that dumped 16g of my 32g storage. oh well. Now I can make calls, but all in-coming go directly to voice mail, texts and voice mail alerts only show up if I make a call, I can only send and receive texts if I make a call and I can see some available wifi, but can not connect. The phone does show that it is connected to data. I am assuming that since this phone was never set up on a carrier, that I'm missing those vital carrier settings. How can I set this up because I really like this phone. Thanks
